CAMBELT or (TIMING BELT), WATER PUMP & ANTI-FREEZE

Cambelts are an essential part of your vehicle and not replacing them upon the manufacturer's recommended guidelines can result in serious damage to your vehicle's engine. We are keen to help you avoid huge repair bills caused by cambelt failure.

Most vehicles will commonly have a twin cam, however, we are happy to inspect your vehicle to determine the number of cams.

On most Cambelts it is recommended to have a new water pump, this of course comes at extra cost.
We would recommend having Anti-Freeze changed also to flush, drain and refill.

We believe it is invaluable to ensure you are aware of exactly how often your vehicle requires a cambelt replacement and to ensure this is maintained.

If you are able to provide your vehicle's details, we will be able to obtain the necessary requirements for you. Feel free to contact us for free and friendly advice:

IGNORING YOUR CAMBELT (TIMING BELT) CAN LEAD TO COSTLY REPAIRS!

How Cambelts Work

A vehicle's engine is a very fragile piece of equipment and requires constant lubrication, cooling and exact timing. Your cambelt controls the timing of your vehicle's engine - this is why some technicians may refer to your cambelt as a timing belt.

The cambelt coordinates the movement of the crankshaft and controls the timing between the engine valves and pistons which allows fuel to move in and gas to move out of the engine in an efficient and timely manner.

If your cambelt fails, the timing process is effectively ruined and there is a high risk of irreversible damage. Without the cambelt, the pistons move freely and separate the engine valves so a simple 'miss-time' can lead to a collision of these parts.

This may not sound serious but the implications of cambelt failure can be very expensive. In many instances, the vehicle owners may consider the value of the car and the worth in getting this work completed. In the most serious cases, the vehicle may be scrapped as a result of the high cost repairs.

We believe it is invaluable to ensure you are aware of exactly how often your vehicle requires a cambelt replacement and to ensure this is maintained.

Warranty
Cambelt warranty with us is one year or 12,000 (in some vehicles 24 000) miles which ever come first.

CAMBELT FAILURE – WHAT CAUSES TIMING BELTS TO FAIL OR FAIL PREMATURELY?

Wondering about timing belt failure? There are a few different things that can cause your car’s timing belt to fail early. In some cases, the hardware like timing belt tensioners or idlers can cause your timing belt to fail prematurely. Likewise a faulty or leaking water pump can do the same. Also understand that improper tension or your timing belt or and when the timing belt is soaked in engine oil, the belt can fail prematurely.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CAR HAS A TIMING CHAIN OR BELT?

To start, check your owner’s manual and the maintenance schedule. Additionally, some car manufacturers publish the list of models that have a timing belt. If you still are not sure, feel free to contact us or ask when you’re in for your next oil change.
